Karen Hurley, BS, CMM, CPC, CNA - has more than 35 years experience in solo and small group medical practice settings. She is one of the first 100 Certified Professional Coders and one of the first 50 Certified Medical Managers in the United States. In 2002, she became a licensed coding instructor.
Since 1978, Karen has assisted physicians and other healthcare providers to manage their medical practices when she first began to work for an oral surgeon. Since that time, she has assisted many different specialties (internal medicine, endocrinology, dermatology, podiatry, OBG-GYN, infectious disease, and ophthalmology) to polish their internal procedures to meet strict insurance compliance regulations. Recognized as an expert in her field since 1996, the success of medical practice is her highest priority.
She has been quoted frequently in national publications for coding, reimbursement, and medical business operations. In addition, she has written and developed training courses for medical office administration at the college level.
Karen has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Mananagment with a Major in Healthcare Services Management from DeVry University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a former nursing student with extensive studies in biology, anatomy & physiology, psychology, patient care, and documentation requirements.
